Lowe is a small village and civil parish in Oxfordshire, England. The village is located on the A40 road between Oxford and Witney, about 5 miles (8 km) northwest of Oxford. The 2011 Census recorded the parish's population as 1,072.
The village was first recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as "Lude", meaning "woodland clearing". The manor was owned by the Bishop of Lincoln and remained in ecclesiastical hands until the 16th century. In 1542 the Crown sold it to Sir Henry Norris, who built Lowe House. The Norrises sold the estate in 1609 to Sir Thomas Denton, who in turn sold it in 1621 to the Earl of Leicester. In 1649 the estate was bought by Ralph Lowe, from whom the village takes its name.
